Normally I don’t like to talk about commercial products on my blog, but while we wandered through our local supermarket the other day, The Six-Year-Old found something that is just too good of an idea to keep to ourselves.
A few weeks ago, we were in the mood for old-timey cartoons, so Daddyo put together a marathon of the original Superman cartoons from the 1940s. Watching old Superman cartoons is inherently fun, not only because of the way Superman’s skills have evolved over the years (Superman doesn’t fly — he jumps like some sort of caped flea), but also because The Six-Year-Old comments freely on what she’s seeing.
In my seemingly never-ending decluttering frenzy I very nearly gave away The Six-Year-Old’s collection of Eric Carle books on the grounds that she was too old for them. But at the very last minute, I changed my mind.
After finding this on The Six-Year-Old’s desk last week, I’m glad I did.
The Six-Year-Old, on seeing a copy of Jan Brett’s The Easter Egg in our local bookstore over the weekend: “I highly recommend this book, Mommyo. Mrs. Watson [The Six-Year-Old’s reading teacher] and I just love it.”
For her birthday this year, The Six-Year-Old received an Easy Bake Oven. This was easily the most anticipated gift of the birthday season, as she has been asking for one since last December 26. So what did she think?
