Time for Saturn’s rings to get their close-up

In case you missed it, NASA this week released an amazing crop of close-up photos of Saturn’s icy rings. The photos come courtesy of the Cassini mission, which was launched in 1997 as a joint project between NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency. Cassini reached Saturn in 2004, and has been sending back a rich stream of photos and data about the beringed planet ever since.

Five years gone already?

It struck me this week that I’ve been writing this blog for five years now, and I thought an interesting way to close out this final Monday of 2016 might be to look back at the top posts of each year so far.

We interrupt this blog for a writing day

The Nine-Year-Old has a day off from school today, and she asked me if she could spend it having a writing day with me. We’ve got her typewriter set up opposite my laptop n the dining room table. She even has a story assignment, and an important lunch meeting. It’s the Caterpickles version of Bring Your Daughter to Work day.
