You’re Invited to a Very Special Kid’s Night Out at the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood
It seemed like school had only been out for a few hours when we got the news last July.
One of The Five-Year-Old’s preschool friends had been diagnosed with kidney cancer. While The Five-Year-Old and I scampered around Dedham photographing bunnies, this gorgeous, mischievous Four-Year-Old child had had one of her kidneys removed and endured the first of six months of chemotherapy.
Sometimes simply dropping off a casserole to feed a family for a night feels so very insufficient.
Which is why I was so excited to hear that there was another way to show this precious Four-Year-Old and her family our love more directly.
On Saturday, September 22, Norwood Montessori will host a very special Kid’s Night Out at the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood. The evening will feature a variety of activities including an open gym, games, bouncy houses, and a movie for potty-trained kids of all ages, as well as a raffle and a Silent Auction for their parents. (Parents are also welcome to simply drop their kids off at the gym so they can enjoy a rare night out of their own.)
Pizza and popcorn will be served at the event. All proceeds will go directly to our Four-Year-Old Friend and her family to help defray the medical expenses associated with her recovery.
As a veteran of past Kid’s Night Out events at the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood, The Five-Year-Old can personally vouch for the fact that the evenings are “super fun but sort of exhausting.”
The festivities start at 6:30 p.m. Parents should plan to pick up their children by 9:30. Tickets are $25 for the first child and $15 for each additional child in the family. Preregistration with the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood is required.
Can’t make the Kid’s Night Out but still want to participate in the Silent Auction or Raffle?
A complete catalog of items up for auction and/or raffle will be posted at the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood in the next few days. Although the inventory is still being assembled, so far items up for bid in the Silent Auction include a fire pit, $100 Barnes & Noble gift card, a Nook, and a Nook tablet. Items in the raffle include a handmade quilt, assorted Tupperware and Pampered Chef items, and gift certificates to local restaurants, including Friendly’s and the Feisty Greek. Raffle tickets are on sale for $5 each (or 3 for $10).
To participate, simply stop by the Gymnastics Academy of Boston – Norwood sometime before September 22 to place your bid or purchase raffle tickets.
The Silent Auction and the raffle will close at 8:45 p.m. September 22. Winners will be notified by phone.
