In which The Four-Year-Old tells it like it is

The loss of a pet is tremendously sad. But even in the most heart-breaking moments, life with The Four-Year-Old forces you to make room for laughter.

Scene: The animal clinic, moments after Mulberry’s death. Mommyo is cradling Mulberry on her lap as The Four-Year-Old and her father enter the room.

Mommyo, wistfully: “Look, The Four-Year-Old, Mulberry’s totally at peace, totally calm…”

The Four-Year-Old, practically: “And totally dead.”
