Fostering curiosity in kids (and their parents) since 2011

Wordless Wednesday

One of my neighbors has the most marvelous rose garden. It reminds me of the rose bushes my mother used to grow behind our house in Dallas.

We have lots of roses in our yard. Some of them shrivel up and die, of course, being Las Vegas. However, some shrivel up and start to die but for some weird reason, turn into red climbing roses. Every one of them. Never figured that out. Now a lot of our former big whatever roses have turned into red climbing roses. We still have a few original survivors, but it’s hard to keep them going here in the heat.

It’s amazing where roses will grow. I remember being so surprised when we moved up to Massachusetts about the number of roses still around as late as November. You’d think they’d be done by then, but nope, a few hardy souls were still lingering past Halloween. I am looking forward to discovering how long the rose season is here. There are many more in bloom than I would have expected.
