Wordless Wednesday: The Six-Year-Old gets homesick

After

The rainbow shelves in the front room of our old Norwood house. The best thing about sorting your books by color is that it makes changing the color scheme of a room really easy. All you have to do is move a few books around. Much easier than painting. (Photo: Shala Howell)

Last night, as I was tucking The Six-Year-Old into bed in her new room, she sighed.

The Six-Year-Old, sadly: “I want to be home.”

Mommyo, curiously: “Where is home?”

The Six-Year-Old: “Home is where the bookshelves are.”

(Because we anchored the bookshelves to the wall of our Norwood home during an extended bout of child-proofing years ago, we had to leave them behind when we moved.)

Thanks! No need to start yet, though, as we are only staying in our current place a year and don’t know where we will land next year. Although it’s a safe bet we will need shelves. Lots of shelves…
