Naturally, within moments of declaring to the world my intention of taking a week mostly off from blogging, I received my invitation to the Ultimate Blog Party 2012, participation in which requires, you guessed it, me to write another blog post today.
That’s just how my life works.
Very briefly, for my regular readers–The Ultimate Blog Party is a virtual blog festival hosted by 5minutesforMom.com, designed to give Mommy and Daddy bloggers worldwide an excuse to pop in and out of each others’ blogs, scattering bits of wisdom, making new friends, and sharing laughs with old ones carnival style. The best bit: No babysitters required.
For those of you who are just joining me from the festival, welcome to Caterpickles! The Five-Year-Old and I are thrilled you stopped by.
I started this blog back in 2011 when my daughter’s question-to-thought ratio started clocking in at 5 questions for every one of my thoughts. I very quickly realized I needed to channel all those questions somewhere else if I wanted to nurture The Five-Year-Old’s wonderful curiosity without going completely insane.
Lucky for me, The Five-Year-Old asks really interesting questions, like:
- “Are caterpillars ticklish?” (the question that started it all)
- “What else pops balloons, Mommyo?”
- “Could a T. Rex lift a woolly mammoth?“
- “Daddyo, have you ever made people eat food and then listened to their tummies?” (My husband is a doctor.)
- “When Santa goes on vacation, do the elves get to go too?“
- “When were cars invented?“
Inevitably lots of books get read and talked about here too. Mostly on Thursdays.
Stick around for a while, introduce yourself. Most importantly, put a link to your blog in your comment, so that I can repay the visit. I’m looking forward to getting to know you.
