Fostering curiosity in kids (and their parents) since 2011

“What do dragonflies eat?”

Yellow-winged Darter (Image: André Karwath)

The Five-Year-Old: “Daddyo, this summer I want to catch a dragonfly, put him in a bottle, punch holes in the bottle and keep him as a pet.”

Daddyo: “But what would you feed him?”

The Five-Year-Old: “Flower nectar.”

Daddyo: “Do dragonflies eat flower nectar?”

The Five-Year-Old: “Ask Siri!”

Daddyo: “I’m asking you. What do dragonflies eat: flower nectar, other insects or dragons?”

Hint… it’s not flower nectar.

Ah, if only dragonflies did eat flower nectar it would be so picturesque. 🙂 At least they don’t bite, or well, I’ve never actually held one to find out. Hmm
